Re-thinking the Future Awards - 13 Years of Awarding Excellence

Re-thinking the Future Awards

Rethinking the Future has been a pioneering organisation dedicated to creating an international forum for the celebration and exchange of knowledge. Rethinking The Future is a platform which strives to encourage growth and excellence in the field of architecture and design globally. A platform such as RTF (www.re-thinkingthefuture.com) not only showcases the skill and innovation of designers all over the world, it also creates a database where architects and designers can seek inspiration and ideas for their designs.

The RTF Architecture Awards is one such initiative which acknowledges the design talents from all over the world, also creating dialogues and interactions within the design fraternity. For more than a decade, RTF Awards have recognized the different fields of architecture and design and aimed to create a symphony that helps young designers create more mindful and aware designs. Architects are involved in a lot of things like activism, conferences, writing, academics, but at the core of our profession, we make buildings and create spaces. RTF Awards acknowledges this fundamental core of the profession and celebrates the excellent work produced every year in the field of built environment taking one step closer to the future.

The RTF Awards are judged by a panel of judges, who are leading figures in the field of architecture and design. An international judging panel evaluates entries with great care and attention to detail. The jury panel is made up of renowned academics, eminent professionals, notable press, skilled designers, and seasoned businesspeople. The wide range of perspectives from eminent personalities creates an atmosphere of learning and exchange which turns out to be useful for the participants. Greg Corso, Designer at SPORTS Collaborative, USA says, ‘So many exciting entries, I appreciated the diversity of projects and the detail and clarity of the entries. It was difficult to evaluate them because they each had something different to offer to the conversation

In today’s world of globalisation and digitalisation, it is extremely tough for young architects as well as established designers to get new clients. A certain recognition and boost in confidence is needed, so that these upcoming designers find their way in the web of architecture and design.  RTF Awards provides designers with a recognition that will pave the way for future projects, and create an online presence, boosting the visibility of the designers across various platforms.

The shortlisted and winning entries will be shared with RTF's enormous email list, on social media, and on official RTF channels (www.re-thinkingthefuture.com). The RTF Newsletters will also publicise the winning firms' work. Winners of the Rethinking The Future Awards as well as the studios that placed second or third may announce their accomplishments. In addition, winners will get a trophy and a certificate.

Re-thinking the Future Awards

Rethinking The FutureAwards 2022 offers more than 60 award categories, including concept and built categories. The Rethinking the Future award categories are grouped in five focus areas: Architecture, Interior design, Landscape, Construction and Design. The Concept and Built categories gives the designers the freedom to think freely and also invites upcoming designers, for whom winning an RTF award will be an immense boost.

The category of architecture includes a wide range of sub-categories, including, but not limited to, residential, housing, commercial, public structures, and urban design. Every prize honours outstanding design based on evaluations of contextual, creativity, and usefulness. There are several subcategories within the interior design area, including residential, retail, workplace, hospitality, and healthcare/wellness. The prize honours excellent and innovative designs that also provide comfortable settings. Both private and public landscaping initiatives are honoured in the category of landscape design. The ideal landscape design initiatives would be those that seek to create inviting and creative indoor and outdoor places. The construction category seeks to acknowledge sub-categories such project sustainability, technical advancements in the industry, and workplace health and safety solutions. Along with this, the award also honours businesses that have promoted diversity and inclusion in the workplace and worked to achieve workplace equality. Furniture designers, signage designers, and designers of interior components all fall within the design area. Also contributing to the discipline of design and enhancing the experience of a venue are fashion designers and exhibition designers.
